YOUR STEP BY STEP PLANNER
Once you know how much you can borrow you can start looking for a property.
1. Visit your local McAfee Properties & Mortgages office and speak to one of our mortgage advisers to get a mortgage agreed in principle.
2. Register with your local McAfee Properties & Mortgages' Residential Team.
3. Find a property and make a formal offer 'subject to contract'.
4. Contact the adviser you have been dealing with at McAfee Properties & Mortgages and apply for your mortgage with your chosen lender.
5. The lender will arrange for an approved surveyor to carry out a 'valuation report' on the property. You may wish to have a more thorough survey carried out - we can help you arrange this.
6. Appoint a solicitor to act on your behalf.
7. The lender will send you a copy of the valuation report. If it is all okay, your mortgage will be confirmed.
8. Your solicitor now carries out the searches, checks who actually owns the property and so on before drawing up the contract.
9. Contracts are exchanged and signed and the deposit is paid - you are now legally committed to buying the property.
10. McAfee Properties & Mortgages will arrange your insurance cover.
11.Your solicitor will advise you of a 'completion date'.
12. Start planning your move.
13. On completion date, collect keys from estate agent and move in!!!
We do not charge a fee for arranging a mortgage as we receive payment from the lender.
However, a purely fee based option is available of 1.5% of the mortgage amount.
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
